A route is the path between two locations, normally two signals.

The SSI Model Railway Control System enables you to configure pre-defined routes.
A route is typically a sequence of device settings required to enable a train to travel from an Entry (start) location to an Exit (end) location and can contain any number of devices. The devices in a route can be signals, turnouts, isolating sections, track circuits and relays.

The SSI Model Railway Control system has two methods of route setting operation.

Standard operation requires the user to select a route from a list of routes and select it for setting.

Entry/Exit (NX) operation requires the operator to click on the required entry signal, then the required exit signal. The system works out which predefined route to set. The Entry/Exit selection is fully compliant with RailTrack/IECC standards.

SSI is the only Layout Control software available which fully integrates route setting with an interlocking system.
